FRIEDRICH WILHELM MARPURG (1718-1795)
Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg, who later became director of the Royal Prussian Lottery, was also interested in music theory.
He published several influential books on the theory and composition of fugues.
Beethoven copied several sections from Marpurgs "Abhandlung von der Fuge".
