CHRISTOPH WILLIBALD GLUCK (1714-1787)

Christoph Willibald Gluck was the quintessential leader of opera reform in the 18th century with great influence still after his death 1787. Beethoven had full scores of his operas in his musical library. A projected oratorio together with Heinrich Joseph von Collin, which however was not realised, was partly inspired by Gluck's operas (LvBWV 2/S.622).
